Pristine Water Systems (PWS) evolved 10 years ago from Oxenford Pumps and a water tank cleaning company known as Tanksmate. This company was owned and operated by PWS' Technical Director Rob Annear. Through his experience selling and servicing pumping equipment, Rob became aware of the serious problem existing in the Gold Coast area of polluted stored water in rainwater tanks. Steps were then taken to develop a system to pump, filter and kill bacteria in tank water. In July 2003 Trevor Glazzner (PWS' General Manager) became involved with Tanksmate as a partner.

As of the 1st of October 2003 , the name of Tanksmate changed to Pristine Water Systems Australia Pty Ltd. With the development and expansion of the company, its products and services, franchises have become available for purchase. The opportunity to extend the range of water filtration and purification products Australia wide has been made possible. As there is a growing awareness of water conservation and an increasing demand for pure drinking water worldwide, Pristine Water Systems' aspires to be at the forefront of water purification.

The quality of water in household tanks is generally very good in terms of mineral and chemical content, however, some form of biological contamination usually exists. Faecal matter due to birds and animals, decaying animal carcasses, other materials such as dust, leaves and corroded metals can find their way into a rain water tank. As a result, harmful bacteria such as E.coli, coliforms, salmonella, giardia and cryptosporidium can exist in the water also sludge forms at the bottom of the tank. Pristine Water Systems can quickly and easily eliminate all of the above problems. In addition, methods such as ultra violet and reverse osmosis are used to control bacteria and impurities in tank and bore water. A complete water analysis is also available upon request.

PWS is a revolutionary new means for cleaning and sterilizing stored water supplies in both domestic and commercial situations. These include:

  • domestic water tanks
  • holding tanks
  • boat and caravan water containers
  • hydroponic tanks
  • animal drinking water
  • aquaculture
  • air conditioning and cooling towers
  • domestic drinking water (sink) filtration.

The cleaning and sterilizing is achieved through the following steps:

  1. Debris from the bottom of the tank such as leaf mould, mud and animal carcasses are vacuumed out (most councils and water authorities recommend this be a yearly practice)
  2. The water is then passed through a technologically advanced filtration system to eradicate any remaining foreign particles. This process also adds more oxygen to the water.
  3. A unique sterilizing agent (approved by the National Health and Medical Council) is added to control any harmful bacteria that may exist.
  4. Tests are also carried out to determine the pH level and total dissolved solids. Results are recorded for future reference with a detailed report given to the tank owner upon completion.

PWS also provides a full range of residential sink filtration systems. These include sink top purifiers and under sink models, which remove chemicals, bad tastes and odours.

 

    



CASE STUDY:
Tamborine Distillery

For some years now, the owners of the world award winning Tamborine mountain distillery, Michael and Alla Ward, have had concerns regarding the quality of the water supplied by a water bore on their property.

Although the water was generally of a very high standard the ph was fairly low.

A low ph means that the water tends to be slightly acidic, which over a period of time can cause internal problems effecting the plumbing, i.e. Copper piping etc within the house. The result being that the internal copper piping is gradually eaten away.

This problem is easily recognised by the appearance of a blue green stain particularly in toilet bowls and ceramic sinks.

Pristine water systems installed a filtration system which not only filtered the bore water but corrected the ph level, in addition to this a fluid reactor was fitted which softened the water making it easier to lather, therefore using less detergent on washdays etc.

Michael said that the cost effectiveness of the equipment and the almost negligible ongoing costs were very appealing.
